Police identify second suspect in double homicide

Police have identified a second suspect in a shooting Sunday that killed two people in southwest Oklahoma City.

Luis Gerrado Ortiz, 32, is being held without bail in the Oklahoma County jail on two murder complaints. The first suspect, Armando Neri, 35, was still at large Thursday.

Both men were involved in the shooting, which was “the result of two gang sets having problems,” police reported.

Ortiz, a felon and “documented gang member,” was arrested Monday on unrelated firearm and gang association complaints. During a traffic stop in Oklahoma City late Monday, Ortiz admitted he had been transporting two shotguns that were found during a search of the vehicle, according to a court affidavit.

On Thursday, police said Ortiz is now believed to be connected to the double homicide.

An Oklahoma County judge on Tuesday ordered Neri’s arrest. Police reported Neri goes by the moniker “Porky.”

Killed were Erica Bradberry, 15, and Giovanny Portugal, 26. About 11:35 p.m. Sunday, both victims were found with gunshot wounds outside a house, police reported. A third shooting victim, Jassiel Castro, 22, also was wounded but survived, police reported.

Police reported a group of people were outside when an altercation resulted in gunfire.

Neri pleaded guilty last month to methamphetamine, stolen property and firearm offenses. He was sentenced to five years probation. He has served time in prison in the past for driving under the influence and cocaine possession, records show.

Ortiz was released from prison in March after spending nearly 10 years incarcerated for a robbery offense, records show.
