Three killed in crashes on state roads

Three men have died in separate Oklahoma City traffic accidents, authoritie­s report.

Rickey Dean Rivas, 54, Sparks

Rivas, who apparently was struck by a vehicle and killed by a hit-andrun driver, was found about 8 a.m. Thursday just west of Sunnylane Road along eastbound lanes of Interstate 40.

It is not known what time he was struck overnight.

The driver of vehicle that hit the man left the scene. The vehicle may be a pickup, van or sport utility vehicle made by GMC that may have damage on the front passenger and passenger side, the patrol reports.

Unidentifi­ed man

A man on a motorcycle crashed about 8:20 p.m. Wednesday at SW 29 and S Independen­ce Avenue, police report. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police have not identified the man yet, a police spokesman said Thursday.

The man on the motorcycle was westbound on SW 29 in the left lane when he made a quick lane change to the right lane and hit a curb. Police did not report whether he wore a helmet.

Bradley Youngquist, 29

Youngquist, a U.S. Air Force airman at Tinker Air Force Base, was killed in a motorcycle crash about 6:50 a.m. Wednesday on S Sooner Road in the northbound lanes near SE 134, police report.

Youngquist was driving the motorcycle on Sooner Road when another vehicle ahead of him hit a large bird and then the driver hit the brakes, police report. Another driver in a car behind that vehicle braked and Youngquist’s motorcycle hit the rear of the car.

Youngquist was then struck by another vehicle and died at the scene. Police did not report whether Youngquist wore a helmet.
