The Nelons are set to perform
DEL CITY — Multi-Dove Award winning and Grammy nominated recording artists The Nelons will perform in concert at the Del City Gospel Singing event set for 7 p.m. Jan. 6 at Del City Church of the Nazarene, 4701 SE 26.
The ministry of The Nelons was formed after family patriarch Rex Nelon already had enjoyed a 20-year career as a member of the legendary LeFevres.
The Nelons include Kelly Nelon Clark, her husband, Jason Clark, and their two daughters, Amber and Autumn. The group, which was recently inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, has been bridging the traditional sounds of Gospel music with contemporary influences.
The group enjoyed much success as a part of the Gaither Homecoming Tour and Video Series.
Most recently, the musical family earned the 2017 Gospel Music Association’s Dove Award for Bluegrass/ Country/Roots Recorded Song of the Year for their hit release “When Grandpa Sang Amazing Grace.”
Joining the Nelons will be vocalist Amber Nelon Thompson.
She was named the youngest Dove Award nominee in history by the Gospel Music Association.
“It will be a lot of fun,” Kelly Nelon Clark said of the event.
“Not only will we be singing the classics that have stood the test of time, we will also share many wonderful and interesting stories behind these timeless songs.”
