Slain OKC man lived clean life, cousin says
The family of a man found shot to death inside his car on New Year’s Day are left wondering who fired upon a man who kept to himself and had just come home from work.
About 8:35 a.m., Bryan Sweet, 23, was found shot dead in a car outside 12725 NE 36, police said.
Sweet’s aunt heard gunfire sometime about 6 a.m. while she was in bed.
“It was New Year’s Day, and people shoot their guns all the time, so she didn’t think anything of it,” said cousin Tamira Sweet.
When she came outside hours later, Bryan Sweet was slumped over the wheel of his car, which was still running. There were bullet holes in both sides of the vehicle, Tamira Sweet, 20, said.
He had just returned home from his shift as a Walmart manager.
Shewas raised in the same home with Bryan Sweet and his brother. They lived with their grandmother until she died.
Sweet describes Bryan Sweet as a man who kept to himself and kept his nose to the grindstone.
“He was a good man,” she said. “He didn’t drink. He didn’t smoke. All he did was work so he could take care of his family.”
When he wasn’t working, he poured his free time into video games she said. As well as playing sports on the screen, Bryan Sweet spent every Wednesday in their youth playing basketball at a Midwest City church, Tamira Sweet said.
“Everybody loved Bryan,” she said. “He didn’t gang bang, none of that stuff. He despised that kind of stuff. He was raised in a church home.”
