Tulsa man faces mail theft charge
BROKEN ARROW — Police arrested a man Wednesday who was allegedly in possession of mail from about 40 addresses.
Broken Arrow officers stopped the man, identified as Tyler Moon, Wednesday morning near Waco Street and Fourth Street after an area resident reported a man in a white truck taking mail from boxes in the neighborhood, according to a probable cause affidavit.
Moon, 20, told officers he was lost in the neighborhood. In the probable cause affidavit for Moon’s arrest, an officer noted that a piece of mail was on the vehicle’s dashboard. The address was from that neighborhood.
Officers told Moon they had a witness. At that time, he allegedly admitted to taking mail from the neighborhood. He reportedly told officers he “was being stupid,” according to the affidavit.
During a search of Moon and the vehicle, officers allegedly located an open container of liquor, marijuana, paraphernalia and two bags with mail in them.
There were at least 42 unique addresses on the mail.
Moon was booked into Tulsa jail on three complaints of knowingly concealing stolen property. He was also booked on complaints of driving under a suspended license, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and transporting an open container.
He is being held in lieu of a $4,100 bond.
