Frank Wang, president of the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematic­s, will speak at an upcoming OKC Town Hall.

OKC Town Hall will host Frank Wang at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 15 at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 222 NW 15.

Wang is president of the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematic­s. He graduated from Norman High School. He earned a degree in math from Princeton and a Ph.D. in pure mathematic­s from Massachuse­tts Institute of Technology (MIT). He has co-authored a widely used high school calculus textbook.

Wang became president of Norman-based Saxon Publishers Inc., growing the company to about 250 employees and nearly $100 million in annual sales.

He left his position there to pursue his lifelong dream of becoming a teacher. He taught at the University of Oklahoma and at OSSM, and he started a special afterschoo­l program for middle school students in Norman.

In 2006, Wang moved to Plano, Texas, and ran his own education business, Wang Education LLC. In 2010-2011, he was a teaching fellow with the Alexander Dawson Foundation Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning.

He became the president of OSSM in August 2012.

Through his public speaking, Wang estimates that he has spoken to about 30,000 teachers and students in schools all over the country, including New York City Public Schools, Los Angeles Unified School District, Chicago Public Schools and Baltimore Public Schools. He has been a featured in The Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Newsweek, USA Today, The Christian Science Monitor, NBC News, Fox News and C-Span. Wang is married to his wife, Judy, and they have four children.

Luncheon with the speaker immediatel­y follows the lecture at the church in The Christian Life Center. The event will allow guests to interact with the speaker and ask questions.
