Visitors can draw inspiration from Norman museum posters
NORMAN — Everyone except font Comic Sans is welcome to celebrate clean lines and classic logos during “I Heart Design” at the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art.”
The free event geared toward college students, but open to the public, is scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
“I Heart Design” will offer students and visitors an opportunity to draw inspiration for future designs from the museum’s extensive collection. During the event, participants can enjoy snacks, a custom photo booth and party favors.
Attendees also will have the opportunity to create their own Museum Moodboard of ideas inspired from the museum’s collection. Students are encouraged to attend dressed as their favorite icon of design.
The “I Heart Design” event is offered in collaboration with “Fine Print! Posters from the Museum’s Permanent Collection.” The new exhibition explores how posters work to sell audiences on products, people and even ideas. It offers visitors an opportunity to see rarely exhibited European and American posters in the museum’s permanent collection that were produced between the fin-de-siecle French poster movement of the 1890s and the 1972 Olympics.
The Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art is at 555 Elm Ave. on the OU Norman campus. Admission to the museum is free and accommodations are available by calling 405325-4938.
