Edmond festival to mark 40 years
The 40th annualDowntown Edmond Arts Festival will bring entertainment and artists to historic downtown Edmond on May 4-6.
The Downtown Edmond Business Association will host the free event from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.Friday and May 5, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 6.
The three-day festival will feature more than 130 artists and live entertainment, including performances by Olivia Kay, Sam Kahre, the UCO Bass Ensemble and the Geib Repertory Jazz Combo.
Other activities will include face painting, interactive games, inflatables, canvas painting and more.
More than 20 area food vendors also will be on hand to serve the public. This year, the arts festival will feature live art demonstrations by the Plein Aire Painters of Central Oklahoma, Oklahoma Sculpture Society and graffiti artist Chris Sker.
“This is the 40th year of the Edmond Arts Festival; we are really looking forward to it and have been working hard all year to add some special attractions to commemorate it, including extending the festival to Campbell street,” said Stephanie Carel, Downtown Edmond Business Association president.
The arts festival will benefit Angels Foster Family Network, an organization whose mission is to rescue abused, abandoned and neglected children, match them with a select group of Angels trained foster parents and ensure the emotional, social and intellectual development of each child.
The Angels Foster Family Network will be selling tickets to win a gift basket with various items from downtown Edmond merchants.
Tickets, as well as programs with a full listing of the festival’s artists and activities, will be available at the hospitality tent.
