Edmond North’s Dike dominates in 4-2 win

In a revenge match against Deer Creek, Edmond North senior

Daryl Dike wasn’t messing around. He helped the Huskies beat Deer Creek 4-2 on Friday night to advance to the Class 6A boys soccer semifinals.

After Josh Okeefe knocked home a header in the 20th minute to get the Antlers rolling, Dike notched his first points of the playoffs when he forced himself through Deer Creek’s backline and slipped a goal through.

Dike, a University of Virginia signee, scored again when he headed in a goal on a corner kick by Garrett Ingram.

Edmond North’s Eddy Mbosowo scored in the 56th minute on a Drew Karnig assist.

Deer Creek tried to rally in the 60th minute when Matt McLaws got the Antlers on the board and Chris Smirlis followed that up six minutes later with a penalty kick.

Edmond North will face either Tulsa Union or Stillwater in the semifinals.

Norman takes down Jenks

Trailing 1-nil at the break, the Norman girls soccer team got to work against Jenks in the second half.

An early match penalty kick goal by Jenks forward Hayley Garcia opened up the scoring of the Class 6A quarterfin­als match.

Norman senior Emma Rice tied things up 14 minutes into the second half on an assist from Tori Kitchel.

Then freshman Kelbie Washington got the game winner in minute 34 when she sneaked a goal past Jenks’ keeper on an assist by Brooke Goodman to give Norman a 2-1 victory.

Mustang headed to semifinals

The Mustang girls soccer team is headed to the semifinals.

The Broncos defeated Deer Creek 4-1 at home on Friday night.

Freshman forward Kyla Lovelace scored one goal and also added three assists.

Mustang will play Norman in the semifinals.
