What did he say?
That’s the question at least one reader has asked about Rajan Zed, the Hindu statesman who visited the state Capitol on Monday. Zed, under the sponsorship of Sen. Stephanie Bice, R-Oklahoma City, delivered the invocation at the start of Monday’s session of the Senate. A snippet of his prayer was included in a story about his visit to the Capitol that appeared in Tuesday’s Oklahoman. For a full transcript of his invocation that he supplied to The Oklahoman, read the Religion & Values blog at http://newsok.com/blogs/ religion-and-values.
The blog also includes information about the recent interfaith forum entitled “Faith Perspectives on Jerusalem.” The event featured Rabbi Vered Harris, spiritual leader of Temple B’nai Israel, and Imad Enchassi, senior imam of the Islamic Society of Greater Oklahoma City, each offering their perspectives about the Holy Land. The Oklahoma Conference of Church partnered with OKC First Church of the Nazarene for the event.
The pair discussed the first Religions United Interfaith Trip to the Holy Land that Harris coordinated and in which both of the spiritual leaders participated. Twenty-two Oklahomans representing the Christian, Jewish and Muslim faiths visited the Holy Land on a dual-narrative tour in 2017.
The interfaith group has partnered with Aviatours for this year’s trip set for November. To request an application for the 2018 interfaith trip, send an email to ReligionsUnitedTravel@gmail.com.
