Buehler stays in Los Angeles for rehab
Buehler stays with Los Angeles
Less than 24 hours after the Los Angeles Times reported Walker Buehler would pitch a three-inning relief outing in Oklahoma City on Thursday, he was on the mound for Los Angeles.
Buehler, similar to Clayton Kershaw last Saturday, never joined Oklahoma City to pitch on a rehab assignment.
Buehler, who is regarded as one of the Dodgers’ top prospects, went into Thursday with a 4-1 record in the majors this season with a 2.63 ERA in nine appearances, all starts.
Kershaw, who was scheduled to pitch in Omaha for Oklahoma City, remained with Los Angeles.
In the series finale between the Cubs and Dodgers on Thursday, Kershaw started and threw five innings, allowing four hits on 68 pitches. In relief, Buehler struggled in his return. He gave up five runs on five hits and was credited with the loss in Chicago’s 11-5 victory.
Former Stillwater star Anderson returns to Oklahoma
Brett Anderson’s outing didn’t go well in his return to Oklahoma.
Anderson, a former Stillwater High School standout, was pulled after 3 1/3 innings against the Oklahoma City Dodgers on Thursday. He gave up seven hits and six runs, which was unusual for his season to this point.
Going into the game, he was 1-1 with a 1.57 ERA. Anderson, 30, has pitched for five major league teams and tallied a 42-49 record during his 10 major league season. He is the son of former Oklahoma State baseball coach Frank Anderson.
