Woman helps ID shooting suspect with Facebook

An Oklahoma City man is in jail after the woman he allegedly followed for days and shot at Friday night while she visited a friends’ house used Facebook to help police track him down.

The woman told police she was sitting with friends in the living room of a home in the 700 block of SW 24 Street about 10 p.m. Friday when they heard gunfire and bullets flew into the house. No one was hurt.

The woman told police she ran outside and saw a car driving away that she recognized had been following her for a few days, according to the report.

The woman’s friends identified the driver as Fernando Delgado and she found a picture of him on Facebook to show police, according to the report. The Facebook picture reportedly showed Delgado, 26, standing in front of the car the woman saw drive away after the shooting.

Later Friday, police found Delgado at a gas station stuffing a purple cloth into the neck of a gasoline-filled beer bottle, according to the report.

Officers found a 9 mm handgun hidden between the car’s sunroof and shade and an empty nine-round magazine. Police found nine total shell casings in Delgado’s car and at the home.

Delgado, a South Side Locos gang member, answered officers’ questions in slurred speech and admitted he fired the gun that night, according to a court affidavit filed Monday.

Delgado was booked into the Oklahoma County jail early Saturday on complaints of a possession of a firearm after felony conviction, public drunk, gang association and using a vehicle to facilitate the intentional discharge of a firearm.

Delgado remained in jail Tuesday in lieu of $34,500 bail.
