Peaceful Family Solutions announces new leader
Journal Record Editor Ted Streuli has been named president and executive director of Oklahoma City-based Peaceful Family Solutions.
Streuli is set to join the nonprofit organization July 23. He has been associate publisher and editor at The Journal Record since 2004 and has more than 35 years of management experience.
The Journal Record has not named a successor.
“We are so pleased and excited that Ted has agreed to lead PFS,” Peaceful Family Solutions Chairman Jeff Davis said in a statement. “His leadership and communications skills along with a deep sense of purpose related to the mission of PFS will allow the organization to serve more children and families than ever before.”
Founded in 2013 by Mike Barcum, Peaceful Family Solutions provides free therapy to children age 7 to 12 whose parents are addicted. The group uses curriculum developed at the Betty Ford Clinic that includes a four-day, peerto-peer program that allows children to identify and express their feelings about their situation and helps them see the addiction as a disease.
The children learn it’s not their fault, they did not cause it, they can’t cure it and they are not alone, ultimately breaking the addictive cycle, Peaceful Family Solutions said in a statement.
“Peaceful Family Solutions has already served hundreds of Oklahoma children,” Streuli said in the statement. “My goal is to grow the organization so that we can help thousands each year. When we consider that an estimated 255,000 adults in Oklahoma have a substance use disorder, the need to help the children is clear and the work at PFS will lead to a healthier, more productive state.”
Streuli received a Voice Award from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration in 2016 for his work in the field. He serves on numerous nonprofit boards, including the Oklahoma Press Association, Freedom of Information Oklahoma, The Colby Foundation, Camp Fire — Heart of Oklahoma, Leadership Oklahoma, and The State Chamber.
