OKC requests flood damage reports online

- BY WILLIAM CRUM Staff Writer wcrum@oklahoman.com

The city of Oklahoma City asked residents with flood damage from Tuesday evening’s storms to report details online by Sunday.

Residents filling out the form at okc.gov/ flood are asked to assess the extent of damage (affected, minor, major, destroyed) and report how deep water was in their home or business.

Areas of south and west Oklahoma City had 2 to 4 inches or more of rain Tuesday. The heavy rain caused flash flooding along creeks.

Reports submitted by residents will help with assessing the extent of the damage and with evaluation and performance of the city’s storm drains.

Besides asking residents

to assess their level of damage and report the depth of water, the form gives those responding a chance to upload pictures.

The address of the damaged property is required, but personal information of the person submitting the report is not. Information is sought only for Tuesday’s storms.

The report is not a substitute for reporting damage to an insurance company.

Residents who need

disaster relief or assistance should call the American Red Cross of Central and Southwest Oklahoma at 228-9500.

Anyone who saw flooding on a city street, or in a yard but without property damage, can report it by email to publicworks@ okc.gov.

Include the location of the flooding and whether factors other than the rain — for instance blocked or damaged culverts — may have contributed to the flooding.
