Rajakovic returns home

Thunder assistant Darko Rajakovic will help coach some of the top high school age basketball players from throughout Europe in his native Serbia at the Basketball Without Borders Europe camp this week.

Thunder assistant coach Darko Rajakovic will join multiple NBA and WNBA players, assistants and former players this week in Belgrade, Serbia, for the 17th edition of Basketball Without Borders Europe.

Rajakovic, who is from Serbia, will help coach some of the top high school age campers from throughout Europe from Aug. 15-18 at the Zarkovo Sports Hall in Belgrade, Serbia. The camp brings together 63 of the top boys and girls ages 17 and under from 25 European countries.

Rajakovic is entering his seventh season with the Thunder, and fifth as an assistant coach. In his first two seasons with the Thunder organizati­on, Rajakovic was the head coach of the then-Tulsa 66ers. He was the first head coach born outside of North America in D-League history.

According to the NBA, BWB 2018 will also include NBA Cares community outreach efforts with youth in Belgrade, including packing and delivering care packages to young people dealing with illnesses.

Earlier this month, Thunder guard Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot played for Team Africa in the 2018 NBA Africa Game.
