An Oklahoma City woman missing since Thursday is thought to have been killed by a man she reportedly lived with for months, according to an arrest warrant filed Tuesday.

On Monday, Scott Daniluk, the employer of Susan Louise Freehauf, reported that she had not shown up for work. Daniluk told police he was concerned for her safety.

The last time he had spoken to her was on Sept. 20, he said, and he had not been able to reach her through text messages or phone calls since then, according to a court affidavit.

A co-worker of Freehauf’s told police she also was concerned for the woman’s safety. On Monday she went to Freehauf’s apartment in southwest Oklahoma City.

At the apartment, the woman found the front door open. While there, she met a man who said his name was David, later identified as David Uriel Shores. Shores, 48, told the co-worker that Freehauf, 52, had a “medical episode” in Broken Arrow and was hospitalized in Tulsa.

Shores told the woman he was getting clothes from the apartment to take to Freehauf but didn’t know what hospital she was in.

The co-worker also told investigators that Shores, whom she knew to be one of Freehauf’s friends, was in possession of Freehauf’s cell phone and car.

Daniluk told police he later tried calling Freehauf’s phone number again and reported speaking to a man named David, who said Freehauf was hospitalized in Tulsa.

An Oklahoma City officer met with Daniluk, who gave him Freehauf’s cell phone number.

The officer called the phone and talked to Shores, who agreed to meet the officer in person, but never showed up.

When the officer tried calling the cell phone again, the call went straight to voicemail, as if the phone had been shut off.

About 6:20 p.m. Monday, the officer saw a vehicle matching the description of Freehauf’s vehicle near Reno and Meridian avenues.

After the vehicle stopped at a gas station, the officer made contact with Shores, who was driving the vehicle, according to the affidavit.

Shores consented to a search. In Shores’ pocket, the officer found Freehauf’s Florida driver’s license, two debit cards with her name on them and a 7-Eleven receipt from Monday showing $200 had been withdrawn using one of her cards.

The money was found in a set of folded $20 bills.

Shores was arrested on an outstanding warrant and taken to the Oklahoma City Police Department’s homicide office, where he declined to give a statement.

He later was booked into the Oklahoma County jail on a murder complaint.

The officer checked with hospitals in Tulsa and Oklahoma City, but none had any record of Freehauf as a patient.

A search warrant was granted and detectives entered Freehauf’s apartment to find “several large blood stains on the living room carpet and pad.”

One of the stains was so large and saturated that it had not dried yet and went through the carpet and a foam pad to the concrete below, according to the affidavit.

Traces of blood splatter also were found on a living room wall and on a vacuum cleaner, bathtub and a clothes washer. Detectives also noted “large bleach spots on the carpet and wipe marks on the wall” that appeared to be attempts to clean the blood.

Neighbors told investigators that Freehauf and Shores had lived at the apartment for the last several months.

The neighbors didn’t recall seeing anyone else coming or going from the apartment.

Despite two people reportedly living at the apartment, detectives said there was no clothing present.

A detective wrote in the arrest warrant that although he couldn’t locate Freehauf, he suspected she was dead based on the “blood evidence and apparent clean up inside her apartment.”

The detective also wrote that he suspected Shores killed Freehauf based on his “actions, statements to others” and the fact that he possessed her personal items.

Oklahoma City police on Tuesday posted on their Facebook page about Freehauf missing. Anyone with information about Freehauf’s disappearance should call 2971200.
