Teenager arrested in slaying

- FROM STAFF REPORTS

A 17-year-old boy was arrested Monday, accused in the shooting death of a man in an apparent drug deal gone bad.

About 11:10 p.m. on Sept. 5, police responded to the 9100 block of N Hudson Avenue on a report of a vehicle wreck. At the scene, officers found a vehicle driven by Stanley Lovett, 26, had crashed into the backyard of a home.

Officers reported Lovett was unconscious inside the vehicle and had been shot. He was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injuries on Sept. 9, according to a court affidavit.

Witnesses told investigators that a Hispanic male, later identified as Eli Eugene Walker, had left the vehicle after the crash and claimed he had been shot by Lovett before fleeing the scene.

Lovett’s phone records showed he had been communicating via text about an apparent “drug transaction.” The person Lovett was communicating with sent coordinates showing where to meet, near NW 90 and Hudson Avenue.

Investigators determined that the phone belonged to Walker and the phone had been pinged in the area when Lovett was shot.

Police located one shell casing near 401 NW 90 and video surveillance showed a person coming from NW 89 to North Hudson Avenue prior to the shooting and fleeing after Lovett was shot.

Only one shot could be heard in the video’s audio, according to the affidavit.

On Monday, police made contact with Walker’s mother, who agreed to bring Walker to NW 23 and Pennsylvania Avenue. Walker was arrested on a murder complaint and is being held without bail at the Oklahoma County jail.

Two people were taken by ambulance to OU Medical Center, police reported. Their names have not been released.

Officers received multiple calls from the Plaza Inn about the shooting. The shooter was inside the room with the victims before the shots were fired, police reported, then fled the area.

Stabbing under investigation

Police report a man was found suffering from cuts to his head and face Tuesday afternoon.

About 2:20 p.m., officers responding to a call of a person with cuts located a 36-year-old man in the 3200 block of Tinker Diagonal. The man was uncooperative and at one point he ran from the officers until he was stopped, according to a news release.
