Dena Joyce Spencer (Butterfiel­d) went to be with her Heavenly Father on September 23, 2018. She was surrounded by her family and prayers. Dena was born July 8, 1933 to Ralph Edson Butterfiel­d and Gladys Irene Butterfiel­d at Deaconess Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Being the child of a minister, she lived in many towns and cities in Oklahoma including Guthrie, Enid, Green Valley, Tulsa and Oklahoma City. She graduated from Central High School in Oklahoma City in 1951. She then attended Central College in McPherson, Kansas. She married Melvin J. Spencer on March 1, 1952. She was a devout Christian, Sunday School teacher and lifelong member of the Free Methodist Church. Dena was an accomplish­ed church pianist for many decades in Kansas City, Kansas and Oklahoma City, sang with the Sweet Adelines, volunteere­d at Deaconess Hospital and was a Campfire Girl Leader. She was a dedicated and wonderful full-time homemaker, wife, and mother. Dena was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Butterfiel­d, her mother, Gladys Butterfiel­d and sister, Charlette Thompson. Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Melvin Spencer, her daughter, Shelly (David) Goodnight, and her two sons, Dennis (Jana) Spencer and Gregory (Shari) Spencer. Grandchild­ren are Morgan Spencer, Stuart (Jade) Spencer, Reid (Esmeralda) Spencer, Nathaniel (Lauran) Spencer, Elizabeth (Sean) Jackson, Kristen (Kameron) Rosenau, Audra (Nick) Lee, Ethan (Maria) Goodnight, and Laura Goodnight. Greatgrand­children are Kalen Spencer, Georgia Spencer, Edson Spencer, Tatum Spencer, Trenton Spencer, Leighton Spencer, Lincoln Rosenau and Riley Jackson. A funeral service will be held at Resurrecti­on Free Methodist Church located at 6000 North MacArthur in Warr Acres, Oklahoma at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 29, 2018.
