Street of Dreams
Tour spotlights luxury homes lining a roadway in a new neighborhood
Inspired by designs from the Texas Hill Country, Jeff Gibbs and Austin Hancock challenged themselves to distill the high-end details from those massive homes into a slightly smaller footprint with a considerably smaller price tag.
“Our main focus for this house was to advertise and show off our partnership and the quality that we’ve put forth together, as we’ve done individually,” Hancock said. “We wanted to really bring all the nice features and creature comforts that these guys are getting in a 2 million-dollar house to a house that’s under a million dollars.”
The result is La Cantera at 14909 Cascade Drive in The Falls, a new neighborhood being developed by Caleb McCaleb and Jeff VanHoose in northeast Oklahoma City.
Gibbs and Hancock, who are longtime friends, joined forces to form Gibbs & Hancock Luxury Estates specifically to build the 4,041-squarefoot house for the Street of Dreams.
“But we do plan to work together going forward,” Hancock said.
Theirs is one of eight luxury homes featured on the Central Oklahoma Home Builders Association’s Street of Dreams tour Saturday through Oct. 28 in The Falls. The addition is on the southeast corner NE 150 and Post Road.
Tickets are $20 in advance at www.street ofdreamsok.com, or at Harry’s TV, Video and Appliance, 11110 N Pennsylvania Ave. Tickets are $25 at the gate. Children 12 and under admitted free.
Twenty percent of proceeds go to the Children’s Hospital Foundation.
Sponsors are Pella Windows & Doors of Oklahoma and Harry's TV, Video and Appliance.
All the homes on the tour were built especially for the Street of Dreams event, which will also include luxury cars from Mercedes Benz of Oklahoma City, food trucks and activities for the whole family.
“I am thrilled at how each builder has pushed the limits of design, style and technology. I hope anyone interested in new homes, the latest features, or high-end furnishings will come to this one-ofa-kind home tour,” said Rusty Appleton, executive director of Central Oklahoma Home Builders Association.
La Cantera delivers. Listed at $970,000, it features four bedrooms, three full baths, one half-bath and four garages.
The stone-and-wood facade evokes a timeless feeling, but the interior is thoroughly modern with an open floor plan perfect for entertaining.
The kitchen features custom-built cabinetry and a huge island with seating. The floors are covered in 8-inch white oak, and there’s room out back for an outdoor kitchen.
The outdoor space already features a fireplace, and remote-controlled screens allow users to raise and lower the blinks via smartphone app. Inside, an aboveground safe room can double as a closet in calmer times.
Both Gibbs and Hancock are longtime builders on their own — Gibbs owns Gibbs Construction in Stillwater, and Hancock owns Hancock Custom Homes in Edmond.
Other builders featured on the tour are: Adams Kirby Homes, Integrity Fine Homes, MassaRossa Luxury Homes, Matteson Custom Homes, McCaleb Homes, Ripple Creek Homes and Tim Hughes Custom Homes.
Rader Building Co. also built a home for Street of Dreams, but it was destroyed by a fire on July 16. Rader representatives, however, will be on site during the event.
