Fired jailer sentenced
A fired deputy sergeant at the Oklahoma County jail has been sentenced to one year in prison for three kidnapping offenses.
Antonio Sharp, 34, of Oklahoma City, came under investigation in 2016 after two female detention officers and one female detention deputy reported he inappropriately touched them while working in the jail.
On Friday, Sharp pleaded guilty to one count of kidnapping and two counts of assault with intent to commit kidnapping, all felonies. Any person who "confines" someone else against his or her will is guilty of kidnapping.
One victim reported Sharp made inappropriate advances toward her inside his office in December 2015. She said Sharp then attempted to pull off her coat and lift up her shirt against her will, a sheriff's investigator reported in a court affidavit.
Sharp admitted to confining the woman against her will, plea paperwork shows.
A second victim said Sharp in November 2015 grabbed her hair on two occasions while making sexual comments, according to the affidavit. A third victim reported Sharp "made inappropriate contact of sexual nature to her" several times and grabbed her breast in mid-2013, according to the affidavit.
Sharp admitted to assaulting both women with the intent to hold them against their will, plea paperwork shows.
Sharp initially was charged with three counts of sexual battery. Prosecutors, though, amended the counts, charging Sharp instead with the kidnapping offenses.
Sexual battery is punishable by up to 10 years in prison. Kidnapping is punishable by up to 20 years in prison. Assault with intent to commit kidnapping is punishable by up to five years in prison.
In accordance with a plea agreement, Sharp was sentenced to one year in prison followed by four years of probation.
Sharp was fired in February 2016, for an unrelated reason involving an unprofessional interaction with Moore police.
