Bedlam attracts highest TV ratings of weekend

- Joe Mussatto jmussatto@ oklahoman.com

Oklahoma's thrilling 48-47 win against Oklahoma State on Saturday afternoon earned the highest peak television audience of the college football weekend, according to ESPN.

The game finished with a 3.0 overnight rating, and it jumped to a 5.1 rating when Oklahoma State scored a touchdown with 1:03 left. The Cowboys then failed on a game-deciding two-point conversion attempt.

Oklahoma City and Tulsa were the top-rated TV markets for Bedlam. Oklahoma City's 34.7 local rating was its highest for a regular season college football game on an ESPN network since 2013.

Sooners stay put in AP Poll

A college football weekend void of major upsets led to little movement in the AP Poll. Oklahoma checked in at No. 6 Sunday, the same spot as last week, after its 48-47 win against Oklahoma State.

The top-seven spots in the AP Poll remained unchanged from a week ago.

OU redshirt tracker

Oklahoma freshman defensive end Jalen Redmond will miss the rest of the season due to recurrence of blood clots, coach Lincoln Riley announced Saturday. Redmond, who played in three games, will redshirt.

Given the chance he returns to full health in the offseason, there's a silver lining for both Redmond and the Sooners in that he didn't lose this year of eligibility.

College football’s new redshirt rule allows players to participate in up to four games and still redshirt and maintain an extra year of eligibility. We’ll monitor how the Sooners are using the rule each week in our redshirt tracker. Played in more than four games, not eligible to redshirt (freshmen only)
