Pearl Har­bor Day ac­tiv­i­ties planned

Fri­day marks the 77th an­niver­sary of the Ja­panese at­tack on Pearl Har­bor. Two cer­e­monies will be held in the Ok­la­homa City area to mark the oc­ca­sion.

USS Ok­la­homa Memo­rial

Mem­bers of the Fleet Re­serve As­so­ci­a­tion's USS Ok­la­homa Memo­rial branch will hold a re­mem­brance cer­e­mony at 8 a.m. Fri­day at the USS Ok­la­homa memo­rial, lo­cated at the Vet­er­ans War Memo­rial at the south­east cor­ner of the state Capi­tol com­plex. The cer­e­mony will in­clude a wreath-lay­ing and a two-bell cer­e­mony.

Camp­bell Art Park

A cer­e­mony will be held at 11 a.m. Fri­day at the park, lo­cated at NW 13 and Broad­way Av­enue. The cer­e­mony will in­clude a pre­sen­ta­tion of col­ors by JROTC cadets from North­west Classen High School and re­marks by re­tired U.S. Navy Capt. John Keilty.

The park holds the an­chor from the USS Ok­la­homa. The bat­tle­ship was sunk dur­ing the at­tack on Pearl Har­bor, claim­ing the lives of 429 peo­ple.
