CASA seeks more volunteers

The Oklahoman - - NEWS -

Court Appointed Special Advocates of Oklahoma County has launched a January recruitment campaign to encourage Oklahoma County residents to become volunteer advocates for children in foster care. The goal is 15 new advocates by the end of the month.

CASA of Oklahoma County will host an open house from 6 to 7 p.m. Jan. 29 at 5905 N Classen Court, #302. Members of the community can meet and hear from staff, current volunteers and Executive Director Jennie Hill. Staff will answer questions and give a brief tour of the CASA offices, the Juvenile Center and a courtroom.

CASA works with the court system to provide trained volunteer advocates to speak for the best interests of children in the foster care system due to abuse or neglect. An advocacy supervisor coaches the advocates in writing court reports, appearing in court, and participating in necessary meetings and visits.

To RSVP for the open house, call 405-713-6602 and ask to speak to Kathy North, director of recruitment. Questions can be directed to North at [email protected] casao
