Deondrick Glass’ college announcement Monday afternoon at the Blue-Grey All-America Bowl had a little bit of everything.

Emotion, theatrics and a bold statement.

Glass, the all-time leading rusher in Katy (Texas) High School history, ultimately announced his decision to commit to Oklahoma State.

He became emotional and had to briefly pause his announcement after speaking about his late grandmother, who died last February.

“She was sick since I was like 10 years old, and she wasn’t able to make any of my games, but I know that she’s in heaven watching over me now, every step I take,” he said, before being overcome with emotion.

Then, Glass allowed his brother to select from a table with OSU, Alabama and Texas hats. His brother acted like he was going to pick the Alabama hat, then moved to OSU.

Glass, who remained

emotional after his announcement, thanked OSU head coach Mike Gundy and running backs coach John Wozniak.

“Let’s go get a national championship, and I wanna win the Heisman next year as a true freshman,” Glass said.

The 5-foot-11, 200pound Glass becomes the third four-star recruit in OSU’s 2019 class, which now has one open spot available. Glass can sign his letter of intent on Feb. 6.

According to the 247Sports.com recruit rankings, Glass is the Cowboys’ highest-rated recruit, coming in ahead of other four-star players Grayson Boomer, the tight end from Collinsville, and Midlothian, Texas, receiver Langston Anderson. Glass, who was high school teammates with OSU offensive line signee Cole Birmingham, rushed for 1,951 yards and 30 touchdowns on 225 carries, averaging 8.7 yards per carry and 177.4 per game. He surpassed 100 yards in nine of his 11 games this past season.

With the addition of Glass, OSU has reloaded its running back depth chart after Justice Hill left for the NFL and J.D. King transferred to Georgia Southern.

Led by starter Chuba Hubbard, the Cowboys also have LD Brown and Jahmyl Jeter, plus Glass and junior-college transfer Dezmon Jackson, who enrolled at OSU last week.
