FIVE BOYS AND GIRLS TRACK ATHLETES TO WATCH THIS SEASON
Boys
Dakari Charlton, Sr., Edmond Memorial: Oklahoma State and Kansas are among schools recruiting Charlton, who won his first 100meter dash this season in Owasso with a time of 11.22 seconds. Cooper Glass, Jr., Mount St. Mary: Glass has already captured a victory in the 110-meter hurdles this season at the Santa Fe Track & Field Invitational. Leslie James Jr., Jr., Northeast: James placed top 10 in the 100 and 200 as a sophomore, so look for his times to drop. Billy Ross Jr., Sr., Heritage Hall: Ross tore his left hamstring in the first meet last season, but his speed in the 100 and 200 is tops in the state. Slater Ward, Jr., McGuinness: Ward holds a bevy of offers, and his performance in the 110 and 300 hurdles will likely earn him more as the season progresses.
Girls
Tahlor Brown, Sr., Edmond North: Brown won gold in the 300 hurdles while garnering a bronze in the 100 hurdles as a junior. Madison Collier, So., Hennessey: Collier was dominant throwing discus last season. Her throw of 146 feet and and 3 inches was distant from her closest competitor at state. Daphne Matthews, So., Heritage Hall: As a freshman, Matthews set a state-meet record in the 800-meter race with a time of 2:13.88. Analya Miller, Jr., Southmoore: Miller won Class 6A gold last season in the 100 hurdles while also earning gold in the 400meter relay. India Morgan, So., Putnam City West: Morgan captured gold in the long jump her freshman season with a jump of 18-feet, 11 inches.
