Edmond North left-hander Isaacs throws no-hitter

Edmond North's baseball team is going into spring break on a super high note. Senior left-hander Caleb Isaacs threw a no-hitter in an 8-0 win over Putnam North on Thursday, sending the Huskies to the break with a three-game winning streak. Isaacs struck out 13 and his one baserunner came when he hit Putnam North's Tanner Keeney in the third inning. Isaacs completed all seven innings on just 84 pitches, 60 of which went for strikes. Edmond North (3-2) next faces rival Edmond Memorial on March 25-26 in a home-and-home district matchup.

Gatorade names Tulsa Washington's Thompson top boys player

Tulsa Washington guard Bryce Thompson captured a Class 6A state basketball title last Saturday. Friday, he was named the Oklahoma Gatorade Boys Basketball Player of the Year. Thompson is the third recipient from Tulsa Washington to win the award. The 6-foot-5, 185pound junior led the Hornets to a 26-2 record. Thompson tallied 19.6 points, 5.2 assists, 5 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game this season. He is touted as one of the nation's top recruits in the 2020 class. The award recognizes athletic excellence, academic achievemen­t and exemplary character on and off the court. Thompson also receives a $1,000 grant to award to a local or national youth sports organizati­on. He is a finalist for the Gatorade National Boys Basketball Player of the Year, which will be announced later in March.

OCA announces Hall of Fame class

Longtime Davis football coach Jody Weber, former Carl Albert baseball coach Wayne Dozier and legendary Anadarko boys basketball coach Doug Schumpert are among the Oklahoma Coaches Associatio­n's Hall of Fame inductees this summer. The OCA announced the 2019 class Tuesday. The inductees will be honored Saturday, July 20, at the Southern Hills Marriott Hotel to open the annual All-State week. Other inductees include Purcell's Randy Belicek, Marlow's Bill Carter, Victory Christian's Jim Cherry, Pryor's Mark Dicus, Blanchard's Kevin Foster, Frederick's Ed Jones and Jenks' Martha O'Rourke. Weber, who stepped down as coach before last fall, won two state championsh­ips and four state runner-ups at Davis in 17 years. He was a huge part of the Wolves' 34-straight years of making the playoffs behind the tripleopti­on offense. Dozier coached 17 years at Carl Albert, going 563162 and winning five state championsh­ips. He also led the Titans to 15 regional tournament titles. Schumpert has coached for 36 seasons, primarily at Anadarko and Carnegie. He's won four state championsh­ips.
