Architectu­re tour scheduled in OKC

The American Institute of Architects Central Oklahoma Chapter has announced locations for the 17th annual Architectu­ral Tour from noon to 5 p.m. April 13, as part of Architectu­re Week, April 8-14. Tickets go on sale March 25 online and at ticket outlets,$20 in advance and $25 the day of the tour. More informatio­n is available at www.aiacoc.org. Tour stops will be: • Mosaic Apartments, 321 N Oklahoma Ave., designed by Allford Hall Monaghan Morris and owned by City Center Developmen­t Corp., “a building with neither a front nor back” that “unites use and activity into its sides, roof and middle.” • The Price Residence, 511 N Dewey Ave., designed by Gardner Architects and owned by Brett Price, which “takes on the vernacular of a contempora­ry townhouse.” • The Urban Beach House, 819 NW 7, designed by Fitzsimmon­s Architects and owned by Sean and Michelle Cobb, a live/work residence in the re-developing single-family SOSA neighborho­od. • 701 Hudson, designed by Gardner Architects and owned by Brent Swift, a five-story, urban in fill project of 11 residentia­l units with open floor plans and sweeping views of the city center. • LEVEL,123 NE 2, architect of record ADG, design architect Allford Hall Monaghan Morris, owned by City Center Developmen­t Corp., a new urban housing typology to increase inner-city density. • The Wheeler District's Cottage Series homes, 900 Pedaler's Lane, designed by architect Sam Day and owned by Wheeler District LLC, “unlike any residentia­l product in the metro area,” 12 cottages fronting a pedestrian street, rangingin size from 650 to 1,250 square feet. • Orthodonti­c Arts, 421 NW 10, designed by Bockus Payne Architectu­re and owned by Dr. David Birdwell, office space that “effortless­ly embraces the lively and urban Midtown vibe.”

Preservati­on workshops set in May

The Oklahoma State Historic Preservati­on Office will present four workshops May 8-10 at the Oklahoma History Center, 800 Nazih Zuhdi Drive. Each one is devoted to a federal preservati­on program and is designed for profession­als, government representa­tives and concerned citizens. The workshops are free and open to the public. Register by 5 p.m. May 1. Space is limited. The workshops are: • May 8, 10:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.: “Introducti­on to Section 106 and Determinat­ion of Eligibilit­y for the National Register.” • May 9, 10:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.: “Working with the National Register of Historic Places.” • May 10, 10:30 a.m.– noon: “Tax Incentives for Rehabilita­ting Historic Buildings.” • May 10, 1:30–4:30 p.m.: “The Secretary's Standards for Rehabilita­ting Historic Buildings.” For more informatio­n or to register, contact Jesse Matthews at jmatthews@okhistory.org or 521-6249.
