Arrive early for summer flights

Construction, more daily flights and more people flying means Will Rogers World Airport is anticipating a busy summer travel season. Capacity has increased 7% from this time last year, with an average of five more daily departures and 536 additional available seats. Airport officials say the No. 1 rule — and the one most often ignored — is to arrive early. The recommendation this summer is to be at the airport at least 90 minutes before your flight departs.

Worth noting: With the terminal expansion project in full swing, access to some areas is reduced and there are numerous construction walls and tunnels. Be prepared to maneuver around all the work.

City holiday schedule

City offices are closed Monday for the Memorial Day holiday. Also worth noting:

• Makeup day for trash/recycling pickup is Wednesday.

• Animal shelter and household hazardous waste facility are closed.

• Recreation centers and gyms are closed.

• Streetcar runs on regular schedule; no bus service.

• Earlywine and Will Rogers aquatic centers open noon to 6 p.m.

Briefly: Weather impacts trail

• High water on the North Canadian River damaged the MAPS 3 West River Trail, forcing closures at several points along the 7.5-mile biking and walking path.

• Police were periodically monitoring neighborhoods near NE 115 and Hefner Road due to concerns that a homeowners association's private dam could fail.

“History will always record that you graduated from high school in Oklahoma City. No matter what, you will be defined by Oklahoma City. And as the mayor of your home, I want to tell you tonight — very soon, this city will be yours.” — Oklahoma City

Mayor David Holt, in his commencement address to the U.S. Grant High School Class of 2019.
