Oklahoma City has a good feeling hitting the road for the next nine days.

The Dodgers used a sixrun fifth inning and then held off Fresno in the ninth for a 6-5 win Monday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark to avoid a series sweep and end a five-game losing streak.

“It would be great going into the off day ,” OKC manager Travis Barbary said. “It hasn't gone how we had hoped( on the homestand). We had some close ones, just haven' t been able to pull them out.”

The Dodgers (24-39) exploded for six runs in the fifth, capitalizing with the bases loaded twice.

Zach Reks had a two-run single with the bases loaded to cut Fresno's lead to 3-2. After Will Smith walked to re- load the bases, Shane Peterson cleared them with a triple to left-center field.

OKC then held off a late charge from the Grizzlies (32-32).

Jose Marmolejos singled to score Wilmer Difo in the seventh to cut OKC's lead to 6-4.

Carter Kieboom tripled with one out in the ninth and scored on a wild pitch from Jaime Schultz. OKC then turned to Kevin Quackenbush, who walked the bases loaded with two outs. But he struck out Tulsa Kelley product Matt Reynolds to end the game.

Stewart has strong return

It's been nearly a month since Brock Stewart took the mound as he recovered from an injury. That time off appeared to help.

Stewart threw five strong innings, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks. He struck out six. He threw 96 pitches, 61 of which were for strikes.

His lone hiccup was in his final inning.

Marmolejos hit a three-run home run to right-center field with two outs.

Up next

The Dodgers were off Tuesday before openin ga three-game series in Albuquerque Wednesday.

OKC sends 24-year-old right-hander Mitchell White (1-4) to the mound against left-hander Kyle Freeland (0-1), who finished fourth in the National League Cy Young Award voting last season. He was recently demoted by the Rockies after going 2-6 with a 7.13 ERA over 12 starts this season.
