Edmond North's Wilson wins OGA men's golf state amateur

Edmond North rising junior Jordan Wilson defeated Oklahoma State junior Austin Eckroat in 19 holes Wednesday to capture t he Oklahoma Golf Associatio­n men's state amateur title at Oak Tree National in Edmond.

Wilson beat Oklahoma City's Ben Klaus 2&1 in the semifinals earlier in the day, while Eckroat edged Guthrie' s Luke Morgan 5&4.

As a sophomore t his May, Wilson won the Class 6A individual state championsh­ip by four strokes at Rose Creek.

ShaeBug Scarberry will face Sydney Youngblood in Thursday's women's state amateur final at Oak Tree. Scarberry defeated Kate Good win 6&5 Wednesday in the semifinals, while Youngblood beat Taylor Dobson 2&1.

Oklahoma chapter of National Wrestling HOF announces 2019 class

The Oklahoma Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame announced the seven members of its 2019 induction class Wednesday.

Rick Bollenbach, Mitch Brown, Greg Evans, Todd Goo ls by, Tony May and Malcolm Wade were chosen f or their Lifetime Service to Wrestling, and Nick Mauldin will receive the Medal of Courage.

The Lifetime Service to Wrestling award is given annually to coaches, officials and contributo­rs who have given at least 20 years of service to wrestling. The Medal of Courage is given to former wrestlers who are highly successful and use the discipline­s learned in wrestling in their profession, per the National Wrestling Hall of Fame release.

Mauldin won a state title with Shawnee in 1986 as well as an individual title. He wrestled at West Point, compiling a 110-29-5 record. He retired in 2017 as a colonel, and his distinguis­hed military career includes being awarded the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star, the National Defense Service medal, the Iraq Campaign medal and the Global War on Terrorism Service medal.

OCU's Olowora named Sooner Athletic Conference female athlete of year

Oklahoma City University runner Aminat Olowora was named the 2018-19 Sooner Athletic Conference women' s athlete of the year.

Olowora won the 5,000meter and 10,000-meter NAIA titles in May to cap her collegiate career. The Nigeria native is one of the most decorated athletes in program history with 12 national championsh­ips and 16 All-American nods in track and field and cross country.
