Officer accused of assault charged

An Oklahoma City police officer accused of assaulting his girlfriend was charged Friday in Oklahoma County District Court with six felonies, including two counts of domestic abuse.

Luis Maldonado is also charged with one count each of kidnapping, threatenin­g an act of violence, forcible oral sodomy and child neglect. Prosecutor­s allege Maldonado committed three of the crime son Aug .31 in Oklahoma County and three of the crimes on Sept .1 in Cleveland County.

In threatenin­g to perform an act of violence, Maldonado verb ally threatened to kill the woman, telling her he would "put two rounds in her head ," District Attorney David Prater wrote in the charging document.

Maldonado was charged with child neglect because prosecutor­s allege he committed the abuse in the presence of the couple' s 18-month-old child.

Maldonado, 42, has been with the department for four years.

He is suspended with pay and remains in the Oklahoma County jail without bond.

His accuser told police she and Maldonado were driving home from a club Aug. 31 when she said something to Luis and he" hit her in the face with his right fist," police reported in a court affidavit.

Maldonado sub sequent ly pushed the woman, hit her with an open hand and shoved her into a fence.

He also hit her in the back of the head while she was holding her baby and spit on her, police reported.

While he assaulted the woman, Maldonado yelled ," I' m gonna kill you tonight, your white privilege is over," police reported.

The woman also is claiming Maldonado directed her not to w cooperate with investigat­ors.
