Report: NCAA to accuse KU of major violations
The NCAA is preparing to issue a notice of allegations that details multiple major violations in the Kansas men's basketball program, The Kansas City Star reported Friday.
The notice will come, sources t old The Star, after a summer of speculation following a top NCAA official saying the organization would make findings against schools involved in a pay-forplay recruiting scheme investigated by the FBI.
On June 12, Stan Wilcox, the NCAA's vice president of regulatory affairs, said at least six schools would receive a notice of allegations for Level 1 violations this summer.
North Carolina State on July 10 received a notice of allegations that included two Level 1 violations.
Level 1 violations carry some of the most severe punishment, including postseason bans and loss of scholarships.
Byeong Hun An leads Mississippi tournment
Byeong Hun An finished off a 6- under 66 in the morning and posted another 66 on Friday afternoon to end his long day a top the leaderboard in the stormdelayed Sanderson Farms Championship.
An was at 12- under 132 and had a two-shot lead over a group that included J.T. Poston and Tom Hoge.

Keselowski captures pole position in Richmond
Brad Keselowski has won the pole for Saturday night' s NASCAR Cup Series race at Richmond Raceway in Virginia.
Keselowski earned his second career pole at Richmond and the 17th of his career with a lap at 127.185 miles per hour. It will be his 16th top-10 start in 28 races this year, and he'll be looking to match his performance in 2014 when he won at Richmond from the pole position.
Marlins announce Mattingly will return as manager
Don Mattingly says he's glad to be returning next year as the Miami Marlins manager to provide stability for a struggling franchise, because as a player he experienced the other extreme.
Mattingly played for the New York Yankees from 1982-95, when they made 12 managerial changes.
He' ll be back for a fifth season with Miami in 2020. His contract announced Friday is for two years plus a mutual option for 2022.
The Marlins also announced a two- year contract with shortstop Miguel Rojas that includes an option for 2022.
