Concordia fundraiser benefits Samaritan fund

Concordia, an Oklahoma City nonprofit, hosted a ladies auxiliary luncheon at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club Oct. 5. The event was attended by members of the Junior League of Oklahoma City, members of the nonprofit and business community, donors and members of Concordia's Auxiliary group. It benefited Concordia's Good Samaritan Fund. Attendees enjoyed a keynote presentati­on by Family Talk columnist Jim Priest, music by The Elderly Brothers, and an auction.

Calm Waters receives more than $28,000

Calm Waters Center

for Children and Families recently received donations totaling $28,350 from five Oklahoma-based foundation­s and businesses. The Oklahoma City Dodgers and Oklahoma Fidelity Bank gave a combined gift of $4,850 to Calm Waters. The E.L. and Thelma Gaylord Foundation awarded a $20,000 grant, the Kerr Foundation a $1,000 grant and the Phillip Boyle Foundation a $2,500 grant.

Tasting event to benefit Other Options food pantry

Other Options will host its annual cocktail competitio­n and tasting event Bar Wars from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 24 at the Farmers Public Market. Tickets are $50 in advance

and $75 at the door. VIP tickets are $150. All proceeds benefit Other Options, which provides food, resources, services and education to at-risk Oklahomans living with HIV and AIDS.

Adopters needed for Christmas gift program

Putnam City Schools Foundation is asking community members to adopt disadvanta­ged children for Christmas through the CareShare program. Each year, 350 to 400 families receive gifts ensuring their children have presents Christmas morning. To adopt a family, go to pcf4kids. org/Christmas by Nov. 1.

Students compete in beautifica­tion initiative

Keep Oklahoma Beautiful has announced finalists of the elementary and middle school litter education programs, UnCapped and UpCycled. Finalists are Donna Peoples' fifth grade at Vici Elementary, Jennifer Lewis' fourth grade at Bailey Elementary, Laura Hayes' fifth grade at Bailey Elementary, Trinda Crow's seventh grade at Wyandotte Middle School, Martha Peters' seventh grade at Saint Joseph

Catholic School and Bridget Johnson's eighth grade at Lexington Middle School.

Fundraiser for girls' art school

The Monsters & Margaritas adult costume party and fundraiser to benefits the Oklahoma City Girls Art School will be from 8 p.m. to midnight Sunday at the Dunlap Codding community space in Film Row.
