Thunder season ticket holders could face a tough challenge this season when trying to resell their tickets.

Tickets f or OKC's home opener Friday night against Washington are available on the secondary market for as little as $8 before taxes.

The organization has tried to strike an encouraging note with season ticket holders who are trying to sell seats to home games Friday and Sunday.

One season ticket holder provided an email from the Thunder to The Oklahoman.

“Couldn't help but notice your tickets for Friday and Sunday's home games ar e posted for resale,” the email said. “Hey, we get it. Life is busy. Time is precious and yeah, things are different now. But don't forget that we're talking about Thunder Basketball — that one place where everyone leaves their stresses at the door.”

The email tells fans to not lose sight of the future.

“The Thunder is committed to return this team to the elite level our community expects, so when you get to have the opportunity now to watch talented young players develop, you will be able to say … I was there for every part of the journey … again … to see this team grow, to nurture development and to cheer on a return to greatness. Wow, sorry, that got emotional. Long story short, we hope you are successful in reselling your tickets this weekend. But if you' re not… there' s always a seat for you at our house.”

Dan Mahoney, Thunder vice president of broadcasting and corporate communications, was asked about the email.

“This is nothing new ,” Mahoney told The Oklahoman. “We al ways communicate with our season ticket holders and encourage them to be in their seats for our home games.”

OKC opened its season Wednesday in Utah. The Thunder will return home for a 7 p.m. Friday game against the Wizards.
