Faith groups plan events for King holiday

The following events and activities will be held to commemorat­e the Martin Luther King holiday.

• Martin Luther King Jr. Gospel Extravagan­za: 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Tabernacle Baptist Church, 1829 NE 36. Hosted by Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., the fundraiser for high school boys' scholarshi­ps will include choirs and soloists, including Tabernacle Baptist Church Mass Choir, St. John Christian Methodist Episcopal Church Mass Choir, Men of Promise (from Gospel Music Workshop of America) Faith, Hope, and Love Missionary Baptist Church Mass Choir.

• Martin Luther King 2020 Church Celebratio­n:

3 p.m. Sunday, St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 5700 N Kelley. Theme is “Challenges Beyond the

Dream,” with the Rev. Ricky D. Turner, senior pastor of Oak Ridge Missionary Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kansas, as keynote speaker.

• 32nd annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Program and Dinner: 6 p.m. Sunday, Temple B'nai Israel, 4901 N Pennsylvan­ia Ave. The temple and the NAACP partner to offer dinner plus a panel discussion entitled “A Conversati­on About the Relationsh­ip Between AntiSemiti­sm, Anti-Black Racism and White Nationalis­m.” The event is free to the public.

• Midwest City Martin Luther King Jr. Prayer Breakfast: 7 to 9 a.m. Monday, Reed Conference Center, 5800 Will Rogers Road. Keynote speakers addressing the theme of unity will be Ann Felton Gilliland and the Rev. Clarence Hill. Tickets are $15 per person. For tickets, go online to Event Brite.
