The Oklahoman canceling in-person fall media day

The Oklahoman is canceling its in-person fall high school sports media day because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The event was set for Wednesday, Aug .12, from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. at McGuinness High School.

However, sports remain slated to start Monday across the state. Instead of having an in-person event, The Oklahoman will send out questionnaires f or coaches of fall sports and their athletes to fill out to help cover their programs this fall.

These questionnaires will be sent out later this week to athletic directors of city-area schools.

Each Oklahoma City-area high school participating in football, fall baseball, volleyball, cross country and fast pitch softball is encouraged to have coaches and athletes fill out questionnaires. The Oklahoman's high school coverage team will use this information throughout the upcoming season.

Norman forward Embry announces top 4 schools

One of Oklahoma's top basketball prospects is nearing her decision.

Norman senior Chantae Embry announced her top four schools through a Twitter post on Monday afternoon, narrowing her recruiting list to Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri

State and Texas A&M.

“Thank you so much to all the schools that have been recruiting me,” the incoming senior wrote. “But at this time I have decided to focus on these four schools!”

The 6-foot-1 forward averaged 16.8 points per game as a junior to help lead Norman to a 24-1 record and a Class 6 A state tournament playoff berth last season.
