D. Carolyn Procter Goss

D. Carolyn Procter Goss, 87, a resident of Maple Court, Touchmark Retirement Comm u n i t y , E d m o n d , O k l a h o m a passed away M o n d a y , January 18, 2021. She was born in Ada, O k l a h o m a on April 29, 1933, to Claude and Alma Ball Procter. She graduated a semester early from Oklahoma City’s Central High School and attended Oklahoma College for Women in 1951. Later that year she married the love of her life Gene Goss whom she met while in Junior High. They went from being High School Basketball King and Queen to celebrating their 69th Wedding Anniversary on July 4, 2020. Carolyn was devoted to her faith, family and friends. She moved with Gene from Oklahoma to Virginia, Texas, Canada, and back to Oklahoma before retiring to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. After twenty-one wonderful years there, the couple returned home to Oklahoma to settle in Edmond’s Touchmark at Coffee Creek Retirement Village. All along the way she made many good friends and wonderful memories. Carolyn was involved in multiple ministries over the years and enjoyed reading and studying the Bible. She was active within her children’s schools and volunteered for many years in the library of both Elementary and Middle Schools. She was continually active and enjoyed tennis, golf, gardening, crochet, computers, needlepoint, cooking, and reading. Her true passion after faith and family was quilting. Carolyn was an active member of Hot Springs Village’s Patches Sewing Group and served as president of the Hot Springs Village Quilt Guild. One of her quilted banners “King of Kings” still hangs in the Village Bible Church sanctuary. Carolyn also had a love of learning. She enjoyed taking classes in horticulture and computer software which led to her teaching classes on Word Perfect to various Oklahoma City businesses. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Alma Procter, her siblings, Claudine Hayden and Charles Procter, and her loving spouse, Gene Goss. She is survived by her children, Mark Goss and wife Susan of Edmond, Oklahoma, Chris Goss and wife Amy of Austin, Texas, and Sandra Cheek and husband Ken of San Antonio, Texas, grandchildren, Sara Young and husband Mike, Claudia Goss, Samantha Welch and Cole Welch, and great grandchildren, Tori Goss, Thomas Young, and Charly Young. According to her wishes, Carolyn will be honored in a private memorial. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).
