Gene Williams

OKLAHOMA CITY - Eugene “Gene” Keelon Williams passed from this life on February 21, 2021 after an extended period of illness. He lost the fight, but won the prize. He was born on June 20, 1935 in Oklahoma City to Keelon “Casey” and Eloise Virginia (Frame) Williams. He graduated from Putnam City High School and attended the University of Oklahoma before embarking on a career in sales. Gene worked for Motorola, Dick Christman Appliances, and Dulaney’s before starting his own business as a manufacturer’s representative of heating and air conditioning equipment. A lifelong Oklahoman, Gene cherished living here. He made a host of friends through the years and always seemed to know someone wherever he went. Gene could always be counted on for a piece of trivia, a piece of history, or an anecdote. His dry wit and humor were always present. Gene was a longtime member of Northwest Baptist Church and he accepted invitations to be of service whenever possible. He enjoyed doing narrations and participating in musical presentations at his church. In recent years, Gene derived great joy in his work as a marriage and family counselor. Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Jo-Ann (Messer), whom he missed very much; his infant son, Brian; parents, Casey and Eloise Williams; and siblings, Billy Joe Williams and Virginia Forrester. He is survived by his children, Bruce Williams and wife Diane of Oklahoma City, Vicki Thorp and husband Russell of Edmond, Dr. Angela Williams, Euless, TX, and David Williams and wife Staci, Lees Summit, MO; as well as his 5 grandchildren, Nathalie, Kaitlyn, Courtney, Blake, and Weston. Viewing will be Thurs., 12-8pm and Fri., 9-8pm with family present Friday, 5-7pm at Mercer-Adams. Services will be 2:00pm Saturday, February 27 at Northwest Baptist Church and may be viewed live at https://www.facebook.com/nwbaptistokc/live_videos.
