Richard Kent Davis

EDMOND - Richard Kent Davis passed this earthly life on February 12, 2021. He was born in Pryor, Oklahoma, to George A. Davis and Lois Jean Bavinger Hill Davis. The family moved to Oklahoma City shortly after his birth where he lived until his death.

Richard graduated from John Marshall High School, playing the saxophone in the band and was Drum Major, “strutting with the best.”

Richard attended classes at Oklahoma State University before beginning work at Kimray, Inc. as a machinist. He transferred to Drafting and then to IT where he retired in 2020 having served over four decades at Kimray.

As a gifted artist, he painted his canvases with pencil, charcoal, chalk, and acrylics, giving away much of his work. In 1996 he illustrated the first “Character 1st Bulletins” used in Oklahoma City grade schools. The loves of his life were his Porsche racing cars and his companion Golden Labs. He was a member of the Warbonnet Region Porsche Club of America and enjoyed his time with fellow car enthusiasts.

Richard was a beloved son and primary caretaker for his mother until her death in 2015. He will be greatly missed and remembered as a free spirit who created lively memories for his family and friends.

Richard is survived by four siblings: Bob Davis of Tulsa, OK; Jeanette Smith of Phoenix, AZ; Doris Arthur Turner of Rolla, MO; and Tom Hill of Edmond, OK. He is survived by 10 nephews and 5 nieces and many “greats”! After a family graveside service, he will be buried at Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City.
