OKC Zoo ends winter schedule early

- Staff reports

The Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden has ended its seasonal winter schedule early and is now open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

The zoo had implemented winter hours on Dec. 1, a first in its history, and the park was open to the public Thursdays through Mondays with no public access on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. By adjusting the zoo's schedule and closing guest facing operations on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during the winter months, the zoo was able to reduce expenses while still providing care for its animals, a news release stated.

February also marks Healthcare Workers& Emergency Responders Appreciation Month at the OKC Zoo, and all health care workers and emergency responders will receive free general admission during the month.

The zoo also is offering 50% off of general admission for up to four immediate family members of qualifying individuals on t he date of visit. Health care workers and emergency responders must present a valid work ID or badge at the zoo' s ticket window upon arrival to receive complimentary admission for themselves and discounts for up to four accompanying guests. Advance reservations are not required.

Advance tickets are required for all other guests, and ZOOfriends members and can be bought at www.okczoo.org/ tickets. Oklahoma City Zoo tickets are limited each day to maintain social distancing among guests.
