Street festival helps revitalize northeast Oklahoma City
Northeast OKC Renaissance Inc. announces the sixth annual oNE OKC is from noon to 4 p.m. May 15 at Booker T Washington Park. The street festival’s theme this year is “Reviving the Culture” and features a headlining performance by Oklahoma R&B band Shortt Dogg.
The annual community-based block party highlights the major revitalization projects in northeast Oklahoma City, aims to strengthen the economic growth of the area and connect the eastside community with the greater metropolitan area.
The event will feature musical performances, food trucks, vendors and children’s activities. Speakers include Ward 7 Councilwoman Nikki Nice, State Rep. Ajay Pittman, County Commissioner Carrie Blumert, Wayland Cubit, State Sen. George Young and more. Community partners attending include University of Oklahoma Diversity Enrichment Programs, the Alliance for Economic Development, MetroFamily Magazine and more.

Hearts for Hearing receives $50,000 grant
Hearts for Hearing recently received a $50,000 grant from the Masonic Charity Foundation of Oklahoma to purchase software upgrades critical for diagnostic testing and allow expansion of its state-of-the-art audiological testing capabilities.
Hearts for Hearing is the only organization in Oklahoma providing both pediatric audiology and listening and spoken language therapy to children who are deaf or hard of hearing. It provides the initial diagnostic audiology testing for newborns and children through age 3 at no cost to families. It also serves children and adults of all ages who experience hearing loss.

Calm Waters’ Wall of Hope supports those grieving loss
Calm Waters Center for Children and Families, the only grief center in central Oklahoma offering free grief support services to children and families, has revealed the Wall of Hope, a highly visible naming opportunity for individuals and organizations dedicated to supporting others in their grief journey caused by death, divorce or other significant loss.
The Wall of Hope, located in the center’s lobby, is the latest addition to Calm Waters Center for Children and Families new offices at 501 N Walker Ave., Suite 140.
The wall has limited naming opportunities. Each space can be secured with a $1,200 donation to Calm Waters. The donation can paid in installments. For more information, go to calmwaters.org.
Positive Tomorrows plans party with a purpose
Positive Tomorrows’ annual fundraiser Cork & Canvas is 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 5 at Oklahoma’s only elementary school specifically serving homeless children and their families. The event will include an evening of food, drinks, and silent and live auctions featuring art by the school’s students.
