OKLAHOMA CITY - Wanda Jo Manuel Freeman, 68, of Oklahoma City, passed away Saturday, April 17, 2021, in OKC after a valiant but short battle with cancer.

Wanda was born July 4, 1952 in Oklahoma City to GW and Betty Manuel. She remained a firecracker the rest of her life. She grew up attending church with her family at Grand Boulevard Church of Christ where she met and later married the love of her life, Johnny Freeman. Johnny and Wanda were married on February 6, 1970. Wanda often joked about completing her senior year and graduation from US Grant in 1970 as “an old married lady”. Wanda studied cosmetology at US Grant and worked in that field with her mother Betty. Over the years Wanda also worked alongside Johnny in his carpentry and remodel business. Wanda has worn many hats in her lifetime: hairdresser, check printer, carpenter, school volunteer, sister, daughter, wife. But by far her favorite was being a Mom and Nana. She loved providing a home for her family and proudly proclaimed herself a “domestic engineer” for her homemaking skills. Wanda had a wicked sense of humor and a generous nature. She will be greatly missed.

Wanda is survived by her son David Freeman and wife Angela of Yukon; daughter Deanna McNeill and husband Kyle of Blanchard; her grandkids Breanne and Aaron Plumb, Colton Graves, Emily McNeill, Sierra Freeman, James Crouse, Drew McNeill, Dawson Freeman, David Crouse, Charlotte Crouse; her brother Forrest Manuel of Blanchard; and many other family and friends.

Wanda is predeceased by her husband Johnny Wayne Freeman; her parents George Washington and Betty June Manuel; and her brother George Wayne Manuel.

Wanda did not wish to have a memorial service. There will be a private gathering for family. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard.
