Events
OKC Flower and Garden Festival: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 8. West side of Myriad Botanical Gardens. The annual festival features plants, decor and tools for home gardening. Visitors will find Oklahomagrown herbs, perennials, annuals, native plants, culinary herbs, vegetable plants, succulents, ornamental grasses, pollinator plants, wildlife habitat, pottery, jewelry, wineries and more. Plant sale: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 29. Crystal Bridge Conservatory at Myriad Botanical Gardens. Sale of plants that will not be transferred to the renovated space. Garden members will have early access from 9 to 10 a.m. To join, go to myriadgardens.org.

Culinary Herbs in the Garden and Kitchen: 3 to 4 p.m. May 1, Myriad Botanical Gardens. Cost: Members $18, nonmembers $22. Dive into the interesting and fragrant world of herbs with Bill Farris, owner of Prairie Wind Nursery. Learn about the top most common herbs and how to grow them. Spring into Orchids: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 1. Plants and growing supplies sale by the Oklahoma Orchid Society. Get help from experienced orchid growers. Backyard Herb Gardening: 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. May 4. Online. Have fresh herbs at your fingertips. Julia Laughlin, Oklahoma County horticulturalist, will discuss the basics. For adults. Creating a Monarch Waystation: 10 to 11 a.m. May 15, Myriad Botanical Gardens. Cost: Members $16, nonmembers $20. Learn how to build your own waystation from the ground up, including planning and design, sourcing host and nectar plants, garden maintenance, and certification, with Oklahoma County Master Gardener Peggy Turner. Participants will head home with one host plant and one nectar plant. Register by May 11 at myriadgardens.org.
