Sugar Land rallies to beat Dodgers

Jose Siri hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning to give Sugar Land a 6-5 Triple-A West baseball win over Oklahoma City on Monday night at Constellat­ion Field.

OKC had taken a 5-4 lead with four runs in the top of the eighth. But division-leading Sugar Land countered with two runs in the bottom of the inning. Siri followed a leadoff double with his 15th home run of the season.

Sugar Land (53-41) has won four of the first five games of this series and widened its division lead over the Dodgers (49-45) to four games.

PIRATES: Former OKC Dodgers left fielder Yoshi Tsutsugo started a rally with his second pinch-hit home run of the season, and Pittsburgh beat Arizona 6-5 Monday night. Three of Tsutsugo’s six hits since joining the Pirates have been homers. He had 10 home runs in 43 games for Oklahoma City this season. He was released by the Dodgers organizati­on on Aug. 14.

DIAMONDBAC­KS: Arizona left-hander Caleb Smith has been suspended 10 games and fined an undisclose­d amount by MLB for violating the league’s foreign substance policy.

Umpires inspected and confiscated Smith’s glove after the top of the eighth inning of the D-backs-Phillies game Aug. 18. Crew chief Tom Hallion said the umpires found two dark, sticky spots on the inside heel of the glove.

Bills’ Beasley, Davis on COVID list

Wide receivers Cole Beasley and Gabriel Davis, two of the most vocal Buffalo Bills regarding their refusal to get the COVID-19 vaccine, must be away from the team for five days because they were determined to be close contacts of a member of the training staff who tested positive, according to a report.

FALCONS: Former Cardinals firstround pick Josh Rosen has signed with the Falcons and will compete to open the season as the backup quarterbac­k. Rosen replaces A.J. McCarron, who was placed on injured reserve on Tuesday with an ACL injury to his right knee.

SAINTS 23, JAGUARS 21: New Orleans quarterbac­k Jameis Winston had a near-flawless performanc­e, and the Saints went on to beat Jacksonvil­le.

Winston was 9 of 10 for 123 yards and found wide receiver Marquez Callaway for touchdown passes of 43 and 29 yards. Winston wasn’t hurried in the pocket and used five receivers, with Callaway catching five for 104 yards. ...

Also, Jaguars running back Travis Etienne will miss his rookie season after suffering a Lisfranc injury – a tarsometat­arsal fracture-dislocatio­n in the middle area of the foot, requiring surgery.
