Scouting Tulane
Record: 0-0
Best player: Dorian Williams is a sophomore linebacker who led the American Athletic Conference with 98 total tackles last season. The 6-foot-2, 225-pound interior pass rusher also finished second in the nation in tackles for loss at 16.5, making him the most crucial piece to Tulane’s defense.
The case for Tulane: There isn’t much of one. The Green Wave are fresh off a 6-6 campaign and are looking to pass the ball a bit more under recently hired offensive coordinator Chip Long. Michael Pratt is a second-year freshman quarterback who’s protected by an experienced offensive line, but asking him to lead Tulane to a monumental upset over OU is too tall of an order.
The case for Oklahoma: This one doesn’t require a huge sales pitch. The Sooners enter New Orleans with an elite defense that’ll make it difficult for Pratt and company to keep up on the scoreboard. OU still has some question marks at spots such as its offensive line, which could be occasionally magnified against Tulane’s pass rush, but it won’t take a perfect showing to win this one.
