Black towns motorcycle tour set for Sept. 3-5

A parade and a car and bike show have been added to the final day of activities for the 13 Black Towns Motorcycle Tour. The tour of the 13 remaining historical­ly Black towns in Oklahoma is set for Sept. 3-5, with launching points in Muskogee and Langston.

Tour organizer Derrick Smith Jr. said the car show will start at 2 p.m. and the parade at 5 p.m. in Tatums, which is where riders will end up on Sunday. The concert in Tatums will start at 7 p.m. Sunday and feature such bands as Chalie Boy, Bankroll Jugg, Urban Cowboy and Supe YBM.

Meet and greets are scheduled for Friday evening in Langston and Muskogee, and a musical celebratio­n is planned for Saturday in Muskogee. Riders can visit all 13 towns in one day or spread the ride over two days.

The registrati­on fee for motorcycle riders will cover a spot on the tour, tour patches and entry to all concerts and tour events. Towns on the tour include Redbird, Tullahasse­e, Taft, Summit, Rentiesvil­le, Langston, Boley, Clearview, Grayson, Vernon, Lima, Brooksvill­e and Tatums.

Non-riders can participat­e in the tour in their vehicles and can buy passes online. The public can also enter the parade and there is no parade fee.
