Oklahoma Weekly Cattle Auction Summary Livestock Weighted Average Report for the week of Aug. 30 through Thursday.

Receipts: 26,638; Last week: 22,648; Last year: 25,539

Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers sold unevenly steady. Demand moderate to good. Steer calves are mostly steady. Heifer calves steady to $4 lower. Numbers are somewhat bigger this week as some sales are closed next week for the holiday. Weather continues hot and dry, however, a not so hot front is head this way for the weekend with spotty showers expected for the lucky few. Slaughter cows sold steady to $2 higher. Slaughter bulls steady. Demand is mostly moderate for cows. Supply included: 92% Feeder Cattle (57% Steers, 1% Dairy Steers, 38% Heifers, 5% Bulls, 0% Dairy Heifers); 7% Slaughter Cattle (91% Cows, 9% Bulls); 2% Replacemen­t Cattle (7% Stock Cows, 81% Bred Cows, 2% Bred Heifers, 10% Cow-Calf Pairs). SLAUGHTER CATTLE

Slaughter cattle in Southern Plains steady to $1 higher. Live sales in Nebraska $2-$3 lower with dressed sales $2-$5 lower. Slaughter cattle on a national basis for negotiated cash trades through Friday afternoon totaled 60,325 head. Last week’s total headcount was 57,120 heads.

Western Cornbelt Direct Lean Hog Base Price: Weighted average price of packers bids on a carcass basis Friday was $93.74.

Dressed Basis: (74% yield): Oct. $89.57; Dec. $82.10; Feb. $83.95; April $86.05.

HOG SLAUGHTER

Federally Inspected Hogs: 2.398 million head down 2.8 percent from last year.

SHEEP SLAUGHTER

Federally Inspected Sheep/Lambs: 30,000 head down 16.7 percent from last year.

BOXED BEEF

Estimated Composite Boxed Beef Cutout Values: Friday afternoon Boxed beef cut-out values: down $10.15 from last Friday. Choice 600-900 lbs. $336.42; Select 600-900 lbs. $304.13.

MEAT PRODUCTION

Beef: 511.4 million lbs. down 4.1 percent from a year ago.

Pork: 501.1 million lbs. down 3.1 percent from a year ago.

Lamb: 1.8 million lbs. down 18.2 percent from a year ago.

CATTLE CARCASS WEIGHTS
