Scouting Tulsa

Record: 0-1

h Best player: Defensive tackle Jaxon Player was a central figure in the Tulsa defense that allowed 22 points per game last season and never gave up more than 30. Player will be key in helping the Golden Hurricane try to stop the Oklahoma State run game, just like Missouri State did on Saturday.

h The case for Tulsa: It starts up front on defense, where Player and others will have the chance to make the OSU offense one-dimensional by clogging the run game. If Tulsa can keep the OSU rushing attack in check without loading the box, the Cowboys could struggle to move the ball.

h The case for OSU: The Cowboy defense still has the ability to keep the team in just about any game, and Tulsa struggled to score points against Cal-Davis last week. Spencer Sanders might return at quarterback for this game, which would be a boost to the run game, because of his athletic ability. His presence will force Tulsa to keep an extra man in the box to defend his running ability, which should help open up passing lanes.

?? NATE BILLINGS/FOR THE OKLAHOMAN ?? Oklahoma State’s Bryson Green (19), Taylor Miterko (68) and LD Brown (0) celebrate a touchdown run by Brown.
