Alma Louise Brown
OKLAHOMA CIT Y - Alma Louise Brown, Oklahoma City - Alma was born July 12, 1959 in Dallas, Texas, and joyfully joined Christ her Savior on September 2, 2021. Alma lived most of her childhood in Temple City, California. Taught by her Uncle Fred, a former student of the Great Harry Lester, Alma became a puppeteer and ventriloquist at age 12. With her parents and brother, she traveled and performed in children’s church services while in high school. Being interested in children’s programs, she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcasting at John
Brown University, and her love of children led her to earn a Master’s in Library Science at Oklahoma University. For 32 wonderful years, she was the Children’s Librarian at the Warr Acres Library. She helped many hundreds of children discover the joy of reading though her story times, utilizing her many puppets, and introducing boys and girls to interesting books. Having a profoundly heartfelt desire to love and serve Christ and others, she also used her diverse talents in multiple ways such as teaching, drawing Bible verse coloring sheets, making handmade cards and being the angel that announced Christ’s birth at Christmas plays. Alma spread encouragement, love and joy everywhere she went. She also loved traveling and visited more than 30 countries. She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Kenneth Brown; brother, Theodore Otto and nephew, Reilly Otto. There will be a private graveside service. It will be followed by a celebration of Alma’s life at 6:00 p.m., September 18, 2021, Westlake Presbyterian Church, 2801 N. Rockwell Avenue, Bethany, OK.
