Non-district play is halfway over. Week 2 of the Oklahoma high school football season is here, and there are plenty of strong matchups across the state. Here are The Oklahoman’s top 10 games of Week 2:

1. 6A-I No. 3 Jenks (1-1) at No. 2 Tulsa Union (2-0): The annual Backyard Bowl is always one of the top games in the state, and that will be no difference this week. Tulsa Union is off to a strong start, but Jenks has won three of the past four matchups.

2. 6A-I No. 4 Broken Arrow (1-1) at No. 1 Owasso (2-0): It’ll be father vs. son, with first-year Broken Arrow coach Josh Blankenship traveling across Tulsa County to take on his father, Bill Blankenship, in a matchup of two of the state’s top programs.

3. 4A No. 3 Clinton (1-0) at 3A No. 3 Heritage Hall (1-0): The defending 4A runner-up will head to Oklahoma City to take on Heritage Hall. Both teams are coming off big Week 1 victories, but Clinton will have revenge on its mind after losing this matchup last season.

4. 2A No. 7 Vian (2-0) at 3A No. 2 Tulsa Lincoln Christian (2-0): Lincoln Christian is off to a great start, including last week’s winning field goal as time expired, but Vian is looking for an early upset.

5. 6A-I No. 7 Mustang (1-0) at 6A-II No. 3 Stillwater (1-0): Mustang was a big winner in the Canadian County rivalry against Yukon last week but faces a stiffer test in Stillwater, which proved against Edmond Santa Fe that the Pioneers remain a contender in 6A-II.

6. 6A-II No. 8 Del City (0-1) at 5A No. 2 Carl Albert (0-1): These teams have played thrillers the past few seasons. It will be former Del City coach Mike Dunn, now at Carl Albert, facing his former squad and former defensive coordinator Robert Jones, in his first season as head coach.

7. 5A No. 7 Tulsa Kelley (0-2) at No. 5 McGuinness (0-1): The annual Battle of the Bishops is almost always a stellar game. Although both teams are looking for their first win, expect this to be a strong matchup.

9. 6A-II No. 7 Putnam North (0-1) at 5A No. 9 Piedmont (0-0): After a double overtime loss in Week 1, Putnam North will look to bounce back against a Piedmont team that had its season-opener canceled against El Reno because the Indians’ COVID issues.

10. 3A Perkins-Tryon (2-0) at 4A No. 2 Cushing (1-0): In coach Dawayne Hudson’s first year as head coach, Perkins-Tryon is off to an excellent start, but its rivalry game with Cushing will be its biggest test yet, as the Tigers are loaded on both sides of the ball.
